easter activity and craft

 

for the sprouts

easter bunny in our family
traditionally hides the baskets every year.

in the morning the kids are on the hunt.

for baskets and eggs

thEy loved dying the eggs.....

in thEiR underwear
because the 

momma couldn't handle thinking of dye on the clothes.

friday morning was oUr easter together

right before leaving me for 3 days and 4 nights 

for the first time.

this momma was too sad

to stay home without hEr sprouts and

headed down to gma's and gpa's 

where uncles and aunties were in town.

wE had a self portrait egg decorating 

contest that was judged by gpa....

it felt like the old days of growing up.

can U tell which one is me?

everyone looks just like tHeiR egg.

it was a great easter!

tHe StOrY oF sHaRk ToOTh

once upon a time a little boy kept a secret.

hE felt an extra tooth growing in hIs mouth.

one day hE accidentally started talking about hIs tooth.

so hIs momma said, "let mE see in your mouth little boy".

so hE opened hIs mouth wide and let hEr look inside.

sHe said, "son, yOu have a new row of teeth that are starting to grow, 

wE'lL have to go to the dentist".

the little boy said, "NO!.....i want to keep all my teeth."

hIs momma had to explain that if hE never lost his teeth to

make room for the new ones then hE'd have two rows of teeth, 

just like a shark.

this made the boy smile.

there were smiles and grins as the day of dentist begins, 

but soon changed to fear as the drills began 

to appear.

the trip ended with gauze, some things missing, and a sleep grin.

the boy left with a box 

with two teeth of it's own

and the shark tooth would soon find

the right way to grow.

the boy was happy to loose hIs first two teeth, 

and wrote the tooth fairy a note to please

leave hIs teeth behind....as well 

as a little money.

the end.

mY kitchen table was so

it got a good beating, finally!

....side note, anyone who know what i'Ve been through

the last couple years knows how it's hard to recover from 

it all.....mY table ended up with only three chairs instead

of four when the 'x-factor' got mad at me once and 

broke it into a bunch of pieces.

it feels so much better to get some more seating to 

go with this set but to also feel like i got something

a little more new since then.

(before....15 years old.......and Ugh....ugh....ly!)

during....

spraint paint legs, check

take a screw driver to the top, check

scratch it up, check

lacquer with dark stain, check

sand the crap out of it, check

(side note: this is a must on old furniture with exsiting dent, bangs, 

or scrapes....otherwise it would be liking paint a car while 

leaving all the old dents.....ghetto....not cute!)

find coordinating bench at flea market, check

(can yOu believe what a good find this was?  it matched perfectly, 

after i had already done the table and chairs....meant to be....)

paint chairs, check

apply 'rub on poly' to avoid bubbles and cracks, check

post on internet and ask if it looks alright.....

check, 

check, 

double check!

please take notice of the dark intentional

scratches and uneven

sanding to create a 'farmhouse country kitchen table' look

this project has made mE want to start all over

and beat it up even more....thank goodness for not being worried about

ruining old furniture.....or even making it more endearing 

to yOuR home!

this was a great project for mY sprouts

tHeY loved it and

it was something wE could do 

together....

plus it's something that was great for what i 

call a good

'time-marker'

for tHeM to have later for

looking back

even momma's need a good get away on a secluded mountain sometimes

wE wanted to do something special for YoUr

birthday after party....

so wE took U to pirate island 

and tried to dress U up....

U did not comply, 

so wE made U walk the plank!

(but wE rescued U just in time for the fun)

YoUr older sprout really got into the pirate spirit.

gpa came....

gma, and uncle d were there 2....

wE all got carried away

for U.

momma made YoU cupcakes

I knew YoU'd adore...

topped with only 3,

now YoUr no baby.....

who needs ice cream when YoU can lick a cupcake?

it was a fun day and i'M so glad

that YoUr mine.
